World Sikh Organization Extends Condolences

December 28, 2007

Ottawa,

The Sikh community of Canada joins the nation of Pakistan and all friends of democracy in mourning the tragic death of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto.

Her love for the people and nation of Pakistan and pursuit of economic, political and societal development through democratic means gave her the courage of conviction and conscience to continue her struggle against formidable odds.

Rejecting the easy and expedient, she demonstrated exceptional courage and abilities to lead and inspire the party and the people to reach for their destined enviable potential. In this endeavour, “she emerged as a true role model for all, particularly the young and female, aspiring to serve the society in a public role in a democratic environment,” said Gurpreet Singh Bal President of the WSO Canada.

“Her death has resulted in a tragic loss that will be felt far beyond the political borders of Pakistan”, said Gian Singh Sandhu, Founding President and Senior Policy Advisor of the WSO.

We join the people of Pakistan in their prayers honoring the memory of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto former Prime Minister and the leader of Pakistan Peoples Party.

May her memory continue to inspire people to serve humanity in every possible way.
